Abstract: The focus of this research is to find the best time lag for PPPs predictive ability to the nominal USD/IDR exchange rate. This research use CPI (Consumer Price Index) data of Indonesia and USA for the period of 1973-2003 and also the nominal exchange rate of USD/IDR for the same period. Based on those data, the PPP rates for USD/IDR are then calcu-lated. Using regression analysis, it is concluded that the best time lag for PPPs predictive ability is one year.

Abstract: Indonesias domestic telecommunication business has become an open business, ever since the termination of Telkoms monopoly right as a long distance network provider. Other telecom providers have started to be interested in going into this business, which has long been owned singularly by Telkom. This phenomenon results choices for telecom providers who have no such facility to put their traffic through either other providers network or stick to Telkoms, or their own by building such facility in areas that government has allocated. The main problem is how to determine a route with the least cost for domestic calls from where the customers make calls with a condition of the Point of Charging is at the same and different location as the Point of Interconnection. The tool used in developing the routing cost model is shortest path model. Routing model is developed from call scenario conducted in telecommunication practice.

Abstract: We are the midst of one of the most profound changes in history in which globaliza-tion and rapid technological development are coalescing communities into one world commu-nity. The major forces fueling these changes include three closely linked developments, rapid technological development leading to redefinition of economic value, change in our conception of time and space, which has increased information resources and reduced cultural differences, and changing power relationships brought about by democratization. In our Information Age, knowledge is valuable as a commodity, something that can be bought and sold. Access to infor-mation now is often more valuable than the ability to produce goods. Information technology has also led to a decrease in time and distance among societies as the world has become wired together. The most significant effect of globalization is on power alignments, because it is difficult now for the powerful to control information in their own self-interests, which has lead to major political and economic revolutions. Another major change of globalization is in demo-graphics as developed countries with rapidly aging workforce turn to developing countries to increase their brain pool.. Demographic changes have led to increasing urbanization and social-heterogeneity as populations are living in anonymous groups who live closer together but have less motivation to understand each other and have fewer shared values. The last major change is in democratization, which is probably the only political system compatible with glo-balization, because it allows for an increase in choices about how people will be governed. Glo-balization and technological development provide a means for empowering political changes, but they also make the choices that much more complicated. The net effect of globalization and technology changes is the challenge of adapting quickly enough and wisely enough to prosper in the new environment without surrendering our identity or the meaning in our lives.
