<p>Abstract:</strong> Knowledge Management has recently emerged as a new discipline and is generating considerable interest among academics and managers. The main propose of knowledge management is to help create a Learning Organization, and the Learning Organization is the key to future success for organization. I conceive knowledge management as the process through which organizational knowledge is created from the individual knowledge of the members of the organization. We develop our theoretical arguments by building on the framework of Nahapiet and Ghoshal (1998) whose central thesis is that firm social capital facilitates the conditions for knowledge creation and provides advantage o firms over markets. Social capital mostly comprises knowledge (trust, beliefs, rules, and norms). The capacity to individually and collectively learn (in networks) is therefore arguably the most important form of social capital, even if rarely acknowledged as such in the literature. Social capital can enhance the capacity to take effective action in human social systems. Knowledge management to enhance the human capacity takes effective action by fostering the growth and development of social capital. Knowledge management can be implemented in every organizational discipline, i.e. Human Resource Management. This paper is concerned with the relevance of knowledge management to human resource management within organization. Human resource management is well positioned to ensure the success of knowledge management programs in organization.</p>
